I can't check in online: common causes and what to do
You open the airline's website, enter your code and an error appears. Before worrying, it helps to know the causes are usually few and almost all can be checked in minutes.
Most common causes
Details that don't match
The surname or booking reference doesn't match the booking exactly. Check capital letters, spaces and that you are using the airline's reference, not the agency's.
Check-in not open yet or already closed
Each airline opens and closes online check-in at different times. And some destinations require documents to be validated at the airport.
What to do
Verify the code on the official site
If an agency gave it to you, ask for the airline's reference. We have a guide on how to verify a booking reference.
Get to the airport early
If you can't solve it online, check in at the desk well in advance with your passport and confirmation at hand.
A simpler way to check your trip
