First-time cruise: how to not overspend (WiFi, drinks and extras)
A cruise looks like the "all-inclusive" formula. And in part it is: food, accommodation and transport between destinations, all in one price. 1. Onboard WiFi: very expensive
The connection at sea is satellite-based, and cruise lines charge a lot for it: up to $30 per day per device. On a 7-day cruise, for a couple, that's over $400 just on WiFi.
What to do: - Use the free WiFi at port stops (bars, cafes, terminals). - Consider a local SIM or eSIM for the port country. - If you do buy WiFi, get it for one device only and share it.
2. The drink package: almost always mandatory for everyone
This is the big hidden expense. Most cruise lines have a rule: if one adult in the cabin buys the drink package, every adult in that cabin has to buy it too. And it's not cheap: $70 to $90 per day per person.

5. Tips, spa, photos and "extras"
